Rescheck Desktop becoming unsupported.

Recently while studying up on Rescheck Web and Rescheck Desktop we found an interesting note

“Update Notice: Support for the 2021 IECC Residential Code was added to REScheck-Web in September, 2021. Note that it will not be added to REScheck Desktop — all new Codes moving forward will only be added to REScheck-Web as eventually the Desktop version will become unsupported.”

What does this mean for Reschecks?

At Rescheck.info and Reschexpert blog we constantly scour the internet for anything Rescheck related that we can share with architects, engineers, subcontractors, homeowners, contractors, and DIY Rescheck enthusiasts. This is as big of news as there is in the Rescheck World. The Rescheck software that started the entire Rescheck movement, Rescheck Desktop is planned to become obsolete and unsupported.

When will Rescheck Desktop become unsupported?

At this time the actual date is unknown. We will keep you updated right here at the Reschexpert blog so check back often.

What will happen when Rescheck Desktop is no longer updated?

Rescheck Desktop would theoretically still be able to generate Rescheck reports, however any new updates or codes would no longer be available.

Would I still be able to use Rescheck Desktop?

Yes, you should be able to go through the basic functions of Rescheck Desktop as long as the Department of Energy has not built some type of built in software kill switch to make it inoperable.

Will building departments still accept Reschecks from Rescheck Desktop?

For a while yes, you should be able to use Rescheck Desktop even if it has been cancelled. In the future updates to energy codes and Rescheck reporting would make it to where they would no longer be accepted. It is hard to speculate when or where this might happen first.

Will Rescheck Desktop be relaunched?

My thought is no, this would be the end of Rescheck Desktop and the Department of Energy will move to a web based Rescheck Web model that sees Rescheck Web as the primary and only option for creating Reschecks.

Can I still use my Rescheck Desktop files?

Yes, you can upload your old Rescheck Desktop files into Rescheck Web at anytime. It is quick and easy. Just because the Rescheck Desktop is suffering from planned obsolescence does not mean you can no longer create a Rescheck. Simply upload your .rck files that were created in Rescheck Desktop into Rescheck We,
