How to Fix Rescheck Web Services Down Error
This morning when going to update an IECC 2018 Rescheck near Chicago, Illinois we ran into an error on the Department of Energy’s Rescheck Web site. https://energycode.pnl.gov/REScheckWeb/
Basically if you have an account with Rescheck Web you will enter your credentials. After entering your Login info you click “Log In”. The Log in button will grey out and ,after an extended portion of time give you this screen.
The major issue here is that if you are creating a Rescheck using IECC 2015, IECC 2012, IECC 2009, or one of the many state specific codes you can move instantly over to Rescheck Desktop software and complete your Rescheck there. If you are creating an IECC 2018 Rescheck for this project in Chicago or another IECC 2018 location like Las Vegas, San Antonio, or New Braunfels then without the workaround we are about to propose you are stuck.
This is just a quick update as we monitor the Rescheck Web outage at the Rescheck Web website as the login error screen has changed from just a few minutes ago.
Here are a few quick fixes and DIY Rescheck remedies that you can try if you are experiencing similar error screens within Rescheck Web software. Again you should only need to use these if you are creating an IECC 2018 Rescheck because all other types of Reschecks can be created using the desktop based Rescheck softare, Rescheck Desktop.
Rescheck Web Error Quick Fixes
- Try a different computer. If you have a smart phone try logging on from a smart phone or another tablet in your building. If you Rescheck Web software loads on that device see if you can harvest the file you need and generate your IECC 2018 using the alternate device. If possible restart the computer that was not loading your Rescheck Web login correctly.
- Try an incognito browser. Google Chrome calls it incognito browsing and basically it is a bare bones browser that that says it will not track your history. You can try to navigate the Rescheck Web website and login on this bare bones browser. This will sometimes work.
- Try a different brand of browser. I typically log on to Rescheck using Google Chrome. You may use a different browser. My next advice to you is to try a different brand of browser. My next step is typically a Microsoft Edge Browser and then I move to Firefox. Sometimes this will work and in a pinch when you need to generate a Rescheck Web IECC 2018 Rescheck quickly then this fix is magical.
Overall, Rescheck Web service outage and errors can be painful for the end user who needs to generate a specific energy code Rescheck report. They are typically brief. They happen quite frequently on weekends and holiday weekdays. Our assumption is that they originate from server upgrades, software upgrades, code upgrades within Rescheck, and any number of server side maintenance issues at the Rescheck Web laboratories. No one may ever know the exact reasons. Hopefully these quick Rescheck Web fixes provided above allow you to see that you are not alone and possibly give you a chance to create your Rescheck Web IECC 2018 Rescheck using an alternate method described above.
